Today, the White House will announce a new moratorium on home evictions in areas with high levels of COVID-19. This weekend, Congresswoman Sara Jacobs (D-CA-53) joined Congresswoman Cori Bush and her colleagues in the Congressional Progressive Caucus outside the Capitol. Congresswoman Jacobs also spoke at a midnight rally as the original moratorium expired on Sunday morning, alongside Congresswoman Bush, Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez, Congressman Bowman, and Congressman McGovern.

Congresswoman Sara Jacobs released the following statement:

“I am so proud to have joined Congresswoman Cori Bush and my colleagues in shining a spotlight on this issue and making this happen. I look forward to reviewing the White House plan. We must continue to do everything we can to avoid millions of Americans being thrown out on the streets.

“On Saturday night, as the clock ticked down on the original eviction moratorium, I joined Congresswoman Bush, Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez and our progressive colleagues in speaking out against this preventable crisis. Because that’s what our constituents sent us here to do - to push for a better future and to center the voices of those most impacted.

“When we fight, we win. It’s time to keep fighting for a better future together.”
