Congresswoman Jacobs Joins Key Human Rights Commission
Washington, D.C. - Last week, Congresswoman Sara Jacobs (D-CA-53) joined the bipartisan Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission, which promotes, defends, and advocates for human rights across the globe. The commission collaborates with the Executive Branch, members of Congress, and international human rights organizations in a nonpartisan manner to advance rights around the globe.
The Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission was established by Congress in 2008 and is named in honor of former California Congressman Tom Lantos, the only Holocaust survivor to serve in the House of Representatives.
Congresswoman Sara Jacobs releases the following statement:
“I am proud to join the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission and to continue speaking out for a foreign policy that promotes international human rights and prioritizes dignity. On the Foreign Affairs and Armed Services Committees, I have worked to ensure human rights is a centerpiece of our foreign policy as we look ahead and rebuild America’s standing around the world. I am excited that the Lantos Human Rights Commission is another avenue to do that and I look forward to working with Co-Chairs James McGovern and Chris Smith, and the rest of my colleagues.”
