Internships
Congresswoman Sara Jacobs offers in-person internships in both her San Diego and Washington, D.C. offices. These internships provide young adults with the opportunity to learn more about the inner workings of a congressional office and to experience the legislative process and constituent and community outreach first-hand.
Our office hosts three intern classes per year:
-
Our Winter/Spring Term runs from January through April, with the application window opening in November of the previous year.
-
Our Summer Term runs from May through August, with the application window opening in March.
-
Our Fall/Winter Term runs from September through December, with the application window opening in July.
The specific dates of each application window will be posted here when they become available, and are typically open for two to three weeks. Notice of the open or approaching application windows are also posted on Congresswoman Jacobs’ social media accounts (@repsarajacobs on all platforms). Complete applications consist of an applicant's resume, cover letter, and a 1 page writing sample.
All interns are compensated and have the choice between $16.85/hour pay, academic credit, or both. Unfortunately, international students cannot be paid by the federal government and are thus not eligible. The internship is only open to college students and recent graduates. The House limits internships to a maximum of 120 days per student per congressional office.
The Summer Term application window is now closed. Please check back in July for the dates on our Fall/Winter Term applications.
