Congresswoman Sara Jacobs Travels to Ethiopia on Official Congressional Delegation
Congresswoman Sara Jacobs (D-CA-53), together with Chairwoman Karen Bass (D-CA-37), visited Ethiopia to meet with government officials, civil society leaders, and humanitarian actors about the ongoing humanitarian crisis taking place in northern Ethiopia and across the region.
A member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, and Human Rights, Congresswoman Jacobs has advocated for an unconditional ceasefire in Ethiopia and urged all parties to allow for “unfettered humanitarian access to Tigray and neighboring regions.”
Congresswoman Sara Jacobs issued the following statement:
“I appreciated this important opportunity to meet with key stakeholders in Ethiopia. After talking with civil society leaders, government officials, and international actors, it’s clear this is an incredibly complex situation with deep historical context and legitimate grievances. The most important thing right now is for both sides to agree to an unconditional ceasefire so that all parties can come to the table to allow for a peaceful and united Ethiopia.”
