Rep. Sara Jacobs Elected to Serve as Caucus Leadership Representative

At 33, Rep. Sara Jacobs will serve as the youngest member of Democratic House leadership in the 118th Congress

Congresswoman Sara Jacobs (CA-53) was elected by her colleagues today to serve as the Caucus Leadership Representative in the 118th Congress, representing the Democratic Members who have served five terms or less at the Democratic House leadership table. At 33 years old, she will serve as the youngest member of Democratic House leadership in the next Congress.

“I’m so honored to have earned the support and trust of my colleagues to serve as their Caucus Leadership Representative, and I’m especially excited to be a voice for San Diego when the biggest decisions are made,” said Congresswoman Sara Jacobs. “As we usher in a new generation of leaders, I’m incredibly grateful that House Democrats have prioritized and uplifted young voices, and I’m looking forward to cementing that priority in the 118th Congress. With our democracy and our bodily autonomy on the line, women, young people, and people of color turned out to vote for Democrats in record numbers – and it’s our responsibility to keep them engaged and invested in our work.

“We have big challenges ahead – from bringing down costs to restoring our reproductive rights to strengthening the foundations of our democracy. It’s on us to deliver innovative solutions to our toughest problems – forging institutional knowledge with new energy and ideas, finding common ground in our shared values, and bringing new people into the fold. I’ll fight every day to make sure we’re worthy of the faith people put in us, and that decisions made at the leadership table reflect the depth of expertise, talent, and policy priorities of our Caucus and our country.”
