Rep. Sara Jacobs Named to Bipartisan Task Force on Artificial Intelligence

Speaker Mike Johnson and Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries named Rep. Sara Jacobs (CA-51) to the Bipartisan Task Force on Artificial Intelligence (AI) today. The Task Force will explore how Congress can drive innovation in AI while setting up guardrails to safeguard against current and emerging threats.

Rep. Sara Jacobs said, “As one of the youngest Members of Congress, I’m painfully aware of how outdated our laws are and how we’ve largely failed to keep up with technology. That’s why I’m proud to join the Bipartisan Task Force on Artificial Intelligence so we can expand access to the opportunities created by AI, set up necessary guardrails to prioritize safety and fairness, and protect against harmful outcomes like bias and discrimination. As the Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa, I’m also focused on ensuring AI global governance systems are informed by a variety of voices and perspectives, including those from the Global South. With thoughtful and deliberate rules, AI can help strengthen democracy and uphold human and civil rights around the world – instead of being a tool for further democratic backsliding. I’m looking forward to digging into all these issues on the Bipartisan AI Task Force.”
