Rep. Sara Jacobs Responds to Trump’s Dangerous Comments on San Diego

Following President Trump’s comments suggesting that hypothetical Iranian attacks on San Diego or Los Angeles would be a “small price to pay,” Rep. Sara Jacobs released the following statement:

“The President sent San Diegans into a panic with his dangerous comments last night. I’ve received a flood of texts, calls, and emails from my constituents wondering if we’re safe, if there’ve been credible threats, and if we’re under attack. I’ve personally spoken with the local FBI field office and military leaders today, and they relayed to me that there are currently no increased threats to San Diego.

“It’s unbelievably distressing that President Trump is the cause of this stress when he’s supposed to protect and reassure our country. His comments are inexcusable. They don’t need more context, and we don’t need a thicker skin to understand them. San Diego and Los Angeles aren’t expendable, and neither are the service members who’ve already been killed in President Trump’s war with Iran. We need to end this war now before President Trump decides that all Americans can be collateral damage.”
