Rep. Sara Jacobs on the House Floor: “Abortion Rights are a Kitchen Table Issue”
Following the popularity of abortion rights on the ballot in the midterms, Congresswoman Sara Jacobs (CA-53) spoke on the House Floor today urging the House and Senate to pass legislation to protect reproductive rights, including her My Body, My Data Act, which would create a new national standard to protect reproductive and sexual health data.

Congresswoman Sara Jacobs said:
“The debate is officially over: abortion rights are a kitchen-table issue.
“Last week, abortion rights were on the ballot in five states. And abortion rights went five for five – not only in what are considered ‘blue’ states like California and Vermont, but in a battleground state like Michigan and in ‘red’ states like Montana and Kentucky. And abortion was one of the top issues that motivated people to vote.
“That’s because, for me and millions of women, reproductive health care is our health care. That’s why women showed up at the ballot box to defend abortion rights. And that’s why we need to do the same in Congress.
“The House has already passed legislation to protect the right to access contraception and an abortion, and protect those who cross state lines to access one. But we need to do more. The House needs to pass my bill, the My Body, My Data Act, to create a new national standard to protect reproductive and sexual health data.
“And the Senate needs to step up and abolish the filibuster so we can finally protect abortion rights at the federal level. The voters spoke loud and clear: it’s time to hear them and to act.”
