Rep. Sara Jacobs Blasts Trump’s Policy To Kick Transgender Service Members Out of The Military
Following confirmation that President Trump will kick out thousands of transgender service members from the Armed Forces, Rep. Sara Jacobs (CA-51) released the following statement:
“A coward who spontaneously received a diagnosis of bone spurs to avoid serving in the Vietnam War knows nothing about the courage, selflessness, and bravery it takes to serve our country in uniform. All of our service members – including our transgender service members – have already met the standards necessary to serve. Kicking them out solely for their identity has nothing to do with their ability to serve and has everything to do with bigotry and hatred. Thousands of transgender service members are senior-enlisted, have deployed multiple times, and have invaluable expertise and knowledge. It would take 20 years and billions of dollars to recruit, retrain, and replace their level of expertise, which is an unnecessary and gross abuse of taxpayer dollars. This move will spark fear in our allies and delight our adversaries, knowing that the United States will no longer protect human rights even at home. All of our service members – including our transgender service members – fight to keep us safe. And that’s why I will do everything in my power to fight back against this policy and keep them safe too.”
