Statement from Congresswoman Jacobs on President Biden’s State of the Union

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Sara Jacobs (D-CA-53) attended the State of the Union this evening – her first since being sworn in on January 3, 2021.

Following President Biden’s remarks, Congresswoman Jacobs released the following statement:

“I was proud to represent California’s 53rd District in the House Chamber tonight for the State of the Union.

“Under President Biden’s leadership, we’re looking forward – with unity and optimism – and we’re not leaving anyone behind. We can – and we must – stand up for democracy around the world, make child care affordable, support our veterans, strengthen our economy, prioritize youth mental health, uplift our immigrant communities, support our LGBTQ+ community, and so much more. I am looking forward to continuing to work with President Biden and his Administration to build a better America.”

Earlier today, Congresswoman Jacobs announced that her virtual guest would be Courtney Baltiyskyy of Chula Vista. Baltiyskky is a respected child care advocate in San Diego County, who served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ukraine from 2007-2009. Her own family has been displaced by the current war.
